All features
Every item below maps to a real control in the app — every tab, every card, every menu-bar switch and every command-line flag. Nothing here is a mock-up of a feature that does not exist.

New in 6.0
Display now reports HDR/EDR capability, rotation and the active ICC profile, and exposes the monitor's hardware color temperature (VCP 0x0C) when the panel supports it. Tools gains an in-memory clipboard history and a screenshot card. The audio panel shows each output's sample rate; the mouse panel adds keyboard repeat settings and read-only trackpad status; the window panel can hide other apps. 7.1.0 adds a read-only Night Shift status card and a clear Focus permission note.
Menu bar
Clicking the menu-bar icon opens the switchboard without opening the main window.
| Type | Items |
|---|---|
| State switches | Show hidden files · Hide Dock · Keep display awake |
| One-shot actions | Screenshot · Screen recording · Lock screen · Sleep · Clear clipboard · Empty Trash · Screen saver · Hide windows · Play / Pause · Eject disks · Screen clean |
| Not shown | Items this Mac cannot support are left out of the menu-bar panel. The Quick switches panel in Tools lists what is unavailable and why. |
| Also in the panel | Brightness slider · Scene presets · Back to neutral · Hold to compare · Volume slider |
Command line
The binary carries the same controls as the panel, plus the self-tests. Useful for scripts, and for checking the app's own claims.
| Flag | What it does |
|---|---|
--list / --list-modes | List online displays and every mode, including the HiDPI modes macOS hides. |
--set-brightness / --offset-brightness / --set-temperature | Set software dimming, adjust it relatively, or set color temperature (2700–9000 K). |
--preset / --set-resolution / --reset | Apply a scene preset, switch resolution (HiDPI first), or hand calibration back to ColorSync. |
--dump-gamma | Print the current gamma table's midpoint. Read-only. |
--login-item / --request-accessibility | Read or set launch at login; request the Accessibility permission. |
--scroll-report / --scroll-selftest | Live scroll diagnostics; verify the interpolation algorithm and total conservation. |
--license-selftest / --cli-selftest | Licence state machine and degradation edges; argument fuzzing, redaction and open-source notices. |
--switch-probe / --switch-selftest | Read-only switch availability and state; a read–toggle–read self-test. |
--probe / --full / --language / --help | Diagnostics, full output, interface language, help. |
What the app deliberately does not do
- Dark mode, Do Not Disturb, Night Shift, True Tone and hiding the desktop: they need private system interfaces, and the public APIs cannot do it cleanly.
- One-click Xcode cache deletion, or resolution switching from the menu bar: one can really delete data, the other can blank the screen.
- Keyboard lock: it can leave the keyboard unresponsive, so it is not a one-click action.
- No telemetry, no analytics, no account system.
Privacy boundary
Verification is fully offline: a long DP- code is checked against a public key inside the app with Ed25519. The app's only network use is activation — redeeming a short code and registering the device once, with our own licensing service, so a long DP- code can be limited to 5 Macs. That registration carries an irreversible SHA-256 digest, computed locally from the board identifier and the model identifier; no serial number, plaintext model string, MAC address, display EDID, user name or account is sent. After that, every launch is verified locally, and update checks stay off unless you enable them. Exported diagnostic reports are redacted for serial numbers, licence codes, absolute paths and user names before they leave the app.
The claims on this page are meant to be checkable. The self-test commands above are part of the binary, and the transparency page lists what each one asserts.
